Dear Administrator Huerta,
We are writing to express our deep concerns about the FAA’s current plans to close air traffic control towers at our community airports in order to comply with “sequestration,” or mandatory budget cuts to agencies. The closing of these towers will have a significant impact on our economy and local communities.

In 2012, the Alliance released a petition from over 100 Mayors from across the country to President Obama calling on the Administration to recognize the critical importance of general aviation to local towns and communities around the country.
The Administration has once again called for the inclusion of a “user fee” tax on businesses, farms and groups that rely on general aviation as part of the Fiscal 2014 Budget of the U.S. Government. Not only would this saddle businesses and groups with taxes for every take-off and landing, but it would result in a huge administrative and tax burden, and
The Alliance for Aviation Across America, together with the League of Rural Voters, Air Care Alliance, National Agricultural Aviation Association, Small Business Entrepreneurship Council and National Association of State Aviation Officials, recently launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation.
