Providing smiles and flights to special Olympians throughout the US

Starting tomorrow, the Citation Special Olympics Airlift will begin transporting some 800 athletes from around the country to the 2010 Special Olympics USA National Games. The airlift, the sixth such quadrennial effort, is sponsored and managed by Cessna Aircraft Co.  This remarkable event allows numerous special Olympians have the opportunity to compete the Special Olympics USA National Games.  A special bond develops between volunteer pilots and the Olympians, lasting well after the flight and games end.  


 

As the oil spill continues so do efforts to protect the local wildlife

Pilots are teaming up with biologists to search for and rescue oil covered birds and other wildlife in the oil-stricken Gulf of Mexico. The flight crews use Emergency Medical Service Aviations FLEET automated tracking to help coordinate their rescue efforts with the US Fish and Wildlife. This innovative operation displays a practical non-traditional use of aviation technology for an important cause.
