In the 1970s, manufacturing companies in western New York were downsized, causing several scrap metal recycling companies to go out of business. Unlike its competitors, the Manitoba Corporation invested in a small plane instead of closing its doors. This investment allowed Manitoba to connect with customers beyond its local area, and saved the business from closing. The corporation is still in operation, and is based out of Lancaster, NY.
