Haiti Relief

The recent earthquake that devastated the small country of Haiti has resulted in an outpouring of support and relief efforts from people and organizations around the globe. As such, members of the general aviation community are coming together to do their part. Many have become a driving force in reconnecting families, rescuing and transporting the injured, and delivering much needed medical supplies and volunteers to the affected region. In the coming days, the Alliance for Aviation Across America will highlight a few of the many heroic measures our members are taking to help Haitians overcome this heartbreaking tragedy.

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin proclaims January "General Aviation Appreciation Month"

Jan. 7:  Today West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin III issued a proclamation declaring January 2010 "General Aviation Appreciation Month".  In doing so, he acknowledged the statewide impact general aviation has on the local economy there. The event was attended by Alliance for Aviation Across America Executive Director Selena Shilad, as well as representatives from the National Air Transportation Association, the National Business Aviation Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.  Read the full press release here, or click here for the Governor's proclamation.

 

 Alliance for Aviation Across America Attends Proclamation-Signing Ceremony with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue 

Oct. 7: Alliance Executive Director Selena Shilad, today attended a ceremony in Atlanta with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to witness the signing of a proclamation recognizing the benefit of aviation to the state of Georgia. Afterwards, the Alliance presented a letter to the Governor commending him for recognizing the importance of aviation. For the full press release, click here.
